Spring Into Warmer Weather With a Clean Car, Part 3

Welcome back! In parts one and two of this blog series, we looked at some useful car cleaning tips to follow this spring as you prepare your car for the warmer months ahead. Winters in Colorado are harsh on the exteriors and interiors of our vehicles, but the cold, snowy weather also does a number on the features hidden under the hood. In today’s conclusion, we will look at ways to clean these and other essential car components so your car runs at its maximum potential and efficiency this spring. Remember, if your windshield or car windows are damaged or broken, the Denver Mobile Auto Glass team can provide you with a top-rated windshield replacement. Keep reading to below to learn more!

Corrosion-Free Battery

The car battery is one of those essential car components that many only think about when it dies. However, keeping up with regular battery maintenance can keep your battery running stronger, longer. As you clean the other components of your car this spring, take time to carefully inspect your battery (with the ignition turned off, of course). If your battery looks corroded, it could damage other components of your car and could leave you stranded on the side of the road someplace. If you don’t have any corrosion cleaner on hand like WD40, try pouring soda over the corrosive buildup. Your car will run much more efficiently with a clean battery.

Check and Refill Fluids

Because your car has been working in overdrive in the winter weather over the last few months, your fluids could probably be refilled or replaced. Check your fluid levels to ensure they are full and top off any that are low. Fluids to check under the hood include, oil, antifreeze, brake fluid, power steering fluid, and windshield wiper fluid, to name a few. You’ll be topped off and ready to go for all of your springtime road trips.

Remove Winter Tires

March and April are some of the snowiest months here in Denver, so you won’t want to remove your snow tires right away. You will, however, want to be mindful that snow tires, while extremely helpful when driving in winter conditions, reduce your gas efficiency when driving with them in times of dry weather. Keep an eye on weather patterns and remove them as soon as you feel comfortable to increase efficiency.
